The goal of this project was to create an engaging and clear explainer video that helps consumers understand the concept of "degree days" - a key factor in energy consumption. The challenge was to make a technical topic visually appealing and easy to grasp through motion design.

My Role & Responsibilities

For this project, I was responsible for animating a selection of scenes, ensuring they flowed seamlessly with the work of another animator. While the storyboard provided a general direction for the animation, I had creative freedom to enhance the movement and bring the visuals to life.

Animation Approach & Techniques

I worked in After Effects, animating neatly organized illustrations prepared for import. One of my favorite techniques in this project was implementing a parallax effect using 3D layers and a camera, adding depth and dynamism to one of the sections. My focus was on cohesion, making sure all scenes felt fluid and well-integrated throughout the video.

Outcome & Impact

The final animation successfully transformed a complex energy concept into a visually engaging explainer video. By ensuring smooth transitions and dynamic movement, the animation helped make "degree days" more accessible to viewers, demonstrating how motion design can simplify technical topics in an engaging way.

Explainer videos don’t have to be boring! Let’s create animations that inform and captivate. Reach out to collaborate!
